South Korea and Oman are set to reinvigorate their economic relationship with the resumption of the Korea-Oman Economic Cooperation Committee after an eight-year hiatus. The committee, initially scheduled for 2019 but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will reconvene to explore new avenues for collaboration.

Trade Minister Inkyo Cheong and Oman’s Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones Chairman Ali Masoud Al Sunaidy met in Seoul to discuss the committee’s revival. Oman’s focus on industrial diversification and renewable energy investment was highlighted as a key catalyst for renewed cooperation.

South Korea expressed keen interest in exploring investment opportunities, joint projects, and broader economic partnerships with Oman. The resumption of the committee marks a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties and fostering mutual growth across various sectors.

Both nations are optimistic about the potential for enhanced economic cooperation and believe that the committee will play a pivotal role in achieving shared economic goals.
